Fred and Paul have known each other since college. In fact Fred's time recording in a studio was Paul's CD, "Night Moods." Fred has since recorded on over 1,000 albums
in 2023 Fred and Paul formed the group Standards Revisited. As the name suggests we take standards and re-do them with our own take on them.

Lead trumpet with the Buddy Rich Big band, Fred also performs as a regular member of Grammy nominated Cuban jazz pianist Chuchito Valdes’ Ensemble performing major jazz festivals around the country. He also tours worldwide with the Elvis Tribute Tour for Elvis Presley Enterprises. Fred’s trumpet playing can be heard and seen every Sunday on WGN’s TV show Singsation, which reaches over a million viewers each week. His trumpet can also be heard on many recordings from Chicago, New York, and Las Vegas. In addition, Fred leads his own Jazz ensemble (The Fred Cantu Quartet) which performs regularly around the country. Fred continues to perform a vigorous schedule that includes guest artist appearances, clinics, recording sessions, touring, and shows around his native Chicagoland area. As a trumpeter and vocalist Fred has been a featured artist at the Chicago Jazz Fest, Viva Chicago, Telluride Jazz Fest, Aspen Snow Mass Fest, Detroit Jazz Fest, and Sangria Fest. Fred released his second album M.F.G. in 2021 and is currently working on his third album. In 2021 Fred Cantu was nominated for a Chicago Music Award along with his quartet in the category of best jazz ensemble. Fred’s modern crooning style along with his ability to connect with an audience has made his quartet a popular act around the U.S.

As a Founder of the roots rock band, The Buzz, he toured the country in support of the groups releases , received airplay on over 200 radio stations , garnered favorable reviews, toured under established booking agencies, and sold over 30,000 records. .A personal highlight was performing at the Monterey Jazz Festival in 2015. He continues to perform over 100 dates a year on upright and electric bass.

Andy also holds a roster of about 35 students, and takes opportunities to give clinics whenever possible. This allows him to pass on knowledge he acquired from studying with industry greats such as Tommy Igoe, Johnny Vidacovich, Chris Coleman, Tom Hipskind, Frank Donaldson and Ruben Alvarez. He is currently promoting his clinic "Practice Efficiency" at music stores and venues across the country. His drive and passion has made him a local favorite among musicians, students and fans alike.
